Integra Service Dogs

The CHRA donated over $2,000 to Integra Service dogs, money that was raised during the 2001 CRAKK Run.

Integra are a private Not-for-Profit organisation, founded in 2016 to deliver the vision established by Mr Ken Lloyd, OAM MSs JP (NSW), which is to provide excellent Service Dogs to Veterans and First Responders who have served our country.
Their mission is to support people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other mental health-related illnesses, as a result of trauma during service.
They do this by providing highly trained Service Dogs that provide security, assistance and friendship. Their Service Dog Training Program provides Veterans and First Responders with renewed purpose, confidence and unconditional support 100% of all donations to Integra from the public go directly to supporting Veterans, First Responders and their dogs – with no donated funds going to administration or hidden costs for the organisation. All of Integra’s staff work as volunteers, freely giving their time and expertise.

Before the General Meeting of 6th July, Ben Johnson and Hooper, the Golden Labrador, were our special guest speakers. Ben explained the need for trained service dogs like Hooper, in their role as Service Dogs to ex-and -serving defence, emergency services personnel and first responders in their struggles with PTSD and aligned mental health disorders. Each dog costs $2,500. These dogs are trained to detect mood swings, depression, moments of anxiety and other disorders of their handlers and break the chain by nudging, barking, or otherwise interfering. They can also retrieve medication from the fridge, and alert others as required. The dog and handler are trained together, and the result is a more enriched life for the handler by creating a bond based on trust and mutual service.
